The original Ford Maverick was a compact car from the 1970s. Ford is using the nameplate for its new pickup truck, which will be called the 2022 Ford Maverick. With this lineup, Ford will offer a standard powertrain that will consist of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine hybrid setup, a variable automatic transmission, and an electric motor. There will also be an all-wheel drive with the optional non-hybrid 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The 2022 Ford Maverick will be a new class of small pickup trucks that will rival the Hyundai Santa Cruz.

Features
 
The 2022 Ford Maverick is expected to be launched sometime around the fall of 2021. Ford is currently taking reservations for it. It will be offered in 3 trim options, namely XL, XLT, and Lariat. The XLT comes with 17-inch aluminum wheels, a power lock for the tailgate, cruise control, and exterior power mirrors. It also comes with a Tow package that upgrades the towing capacity of the Maverick to 4000 pounds.

Engine and Performance
 
All the trims of the 2022 Ford Maverick will come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will be assisted with an electric motor. It will give a combined horsepower of 191. This setup will be a front-wheel-drive that will assist with a variable automatic transmission. The non-hybrid powertrain will come with a 2-liter four-cylinder engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. It will also have the option of all-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy
 
According to Ford, the hybrid Maverick will be able to deliver 40 mpg in the city. More data about the fuel economy will be available once the car has been launched.

Interiors

The Ford Mavericks will be crew cabs featuring a full-sized door and a roomy back seat area. There will be many bins and storage cubbies distributed throughout the area. The base models will come with many features like a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, audio controls, adjustable lumbar support, and remote keyless entry. The higher models will have optional packages and additional features like dual-zone automatic climate control and power front seats. The center console will consist of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enabled. There will be an optional B&O stereo system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and wireless smartphone charging.

Safety and Other Features
 
The 2022 Ford Maverick will come with several driver-assist features like automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Besides this, there will also be a lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist.
